Notably, this tree only bears fruit every four years. After being dried or sun-dried, the seeds from the Malva nut tree expand when soaked in water, resembling cotton. People often mix Malva nuts with basil seeds and add a bit of sugar to create a refreshing and delicious drink.


 

How to Use

Malva nuts have a natural sweetness and a slightly bitter taste. These nuts are commonly used to make refreshing beverages. First, soak the Malva nuts in water until they expand. Then, separate the nut meat and mix it with other ingredients like chia seeds, basil seeds, mu truom (a type of tropical fruit), and rock sugar to create a cooling drink that replenishes the body with nutrients.
 

How to Choose Quality Malva Nuts

To select high-quality nuts, prioritize those with a brownish-red color over yellow ones. Yellow Malva nuts often expand less or not at all due to being harvested too early. Additionally, avoid nuts that show signs of mold or have an unusual smell.



Before storing, inspect the nuts for any signs of mold. If there is a moldy nut, it can contaminate the others. Afterward, you can place the nuts in a zip-lock bag or glass jar and store them in a dry place to prevent moisture. If you don't use all the nuts, sun-dry them after about a month to prevent dampness and extend their shelf life.
