Mu Cang Chai
Mu Cang Chai is a highland district in the west of Yen Bai Province, located about 180km from the center of Yen Bai city and over 300km northwest of Hanoi. This area lies at the foot of the Hoang Lien Son mountain range, at an altitude of over 2,000m above sea level.
Visiting Mu Cang Chai even once, travelers can feel the richness of nature, the uniqueness of culture, and the warmth of the people. The journey to Mu Cang Chai, though long and challenging, is incredibly fascinating. The scenery changes constantly along the way, with travelers barely having time to admire the stilt houses of the Thai ethnic group in the vast Muong Lo valley, adorned with thousands of white ban flowers. The winding roads on steep hillsides lead through geological formations that have created towering peaks like Pung Luong (2,985m), Phu Ba (2,512m), Mo De (2,100m)… Crossing Khau Pha Pass (2,100m), the highest peak in the "Four Great Passes" of Northwest Vietnam, is enveloped in floating clouds with a cool climate year-round.
Khau Pha Pass is also the fourth most beautiful location in the world for paragliding, offering thrill-seekers and adventure enthusiasts the chance to conquer the skies and marvel at the majestic natural beauty from above. From one pass to another, from one mountain to the next, travelers will distinctly feel the altitude changes, with breathtaking terraced rice fields on both sides of the road captivating every visitor.
