Lung Cu Flag Tower

Located 154km north of Ha Giang city, the Lung Cu National Flagpole sits atop Lung Cu Peak (also known as Rong Mountain), in Lung Cu commune, Đong Van district, at the northernmost point of Vietnam. The Lung Cu Flagpole is not only a sacred symbol marking the sovereignty of our country's territory but also deeply connected to the name, land, and people of Ha Giang.

The Lung Cu Flagpole stands at an altitude of nearly 1,500 meters above sea level, about 3.3 kilometers in a straight line from the northernmost point of Vietnam, and 24 kilometers from Đong Van town. Modeled after the Hanoi Flagpole, it stands at a total height of 34.85 meters, with a flag measuring 54 square meters, symbolizing the 54 ethnic groups living harmoniously and united across Vietnam's territory. The column's shaft is designed in an octagonal shape, adorned with 8 bronze drums and 8 bas-reliefs made of blue stone, illustrating various historical periods of the country, as well as the customs and traditions of the people of Hà Giang.

To reach the top of the flagpole, visitors must climb 839 steps. The first section includes 425 stone steps from the mountain base to the waiting area; the second section consists of 279 stone steps from the waiting area to the foot of the flagpole; the third section comprises 135 steel steps inside the flagpole. At the summit stands a stainless steel column approximately 8 meters high, displaying the national flag measuring 9 meters in length and 6 meters in width. Below the flagpole's base is a memorial house exhibiting tools, clothing, and cultural products of the Ha Giang ethnic groups.
