Bai Dinh Pagoda
Bai Dinh Pagoda is located at the western gateway of the Hoa Lu ancient capital complex, along National Highway 38B, in Gia Sinh Commune, Gia Vien District, Ninh Binh Province, about 15 km from Ninh Binh city and 95 km from Hanoi. Situated to the north of the Trang An Scenic Landscape Complex, Bai Dinh Pagoda is a vast temple complex that holds many Asian and Vietnamese records, such as having the largest gilded bronze Buddha statue in Asia, the longest Arhat corridor in Asia, and the largest bronze Maitreya Buddha statue in Southeast Asia. It is the largest pagoda in Vietnam and holds the most records.
The Bai Dinh Pagoda complex consists of an ancient temple area and a newly built temple area, which began construction in 2003. The pagoda is situated on the mountainside, among vast valleys of lakes and limestone mountains, at the western gateway to the ancient capital of Hoa Lư. The architecture of the new temple is grand and majestic, yet deeply imbued with traditional Vietnamese characteristics. As a result, it has quickly become a famous destination.
